Dane Cameron, son of ex-Lynx engineer Rick Cameron, is following in the footsteps of the legendary team as a rising star in the Star Formula Mazda Championship

Rising open-wheel racing star Dane Cameron is the son of former Lynx Racing engineer Rick Cameron and nephew of ex-Lynx team manager Steve Cameron. Although Lynx Racing ceased operation in 2004, such was the power and reach of the Lynx concept and team that its influence continues to be felt in a new generation of drivers.

Cameron is now competing in the Star Formula Mazda Championship where, after seven races, he has scored four poles, three victories, two 2nd-place and two 4th-place finishes.  He leads the championship battle by 47 points and is showing the form of a true champion in the Lynx tradition.

As part of the activities surrounding this weekend's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Lynx graduate Memo Gidley will have a surprise role in a go-kart race between Tonight Show host Jay Leno and movie legend Paul Newman. The segment, shot earlier in the day, will be shown on the Tonight Show Friday night (11:34 pm ET).

Buddy Rice makes his IROC debut
Lynx Racing graduate Buddy Rice, who won the 2004 Indy 500 driving for Rahal Letterman Racing, continued to break new ground by becoming the first Lynx driver to compete in the IROC (International Race of Champions) series. This actually wasn’t the first time Rice has driven a stock car. He made one start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2003.

Lynx Graduate Buddy Rice Wins Indy 500
On a day interrupted twice because of rain, pole sitter Buddy Rice (a graduate of the Lynx Racing program) has won the 2004 Indy 500 for Rahal-Letterman Racing over Andretti-Green's Tony Kanaan, Dan Wheldon, and Bryan Herta. Rain caused the race to start 2 hours 11 minutes late and caused one red flag and later the race to finish 20 laps short of the 200-lap distance under yellow.
