Peter Frey - Staff

Mr. Peter Frey is the CEO of BrainStorm - Lynx Racing's public relations firm. Peter joined Lynx Racing in 1994 after a 25-year career in motorsports that covered every job from race team mechanic to truck driver to racing driver to public relations man for a variety of championship-winning teams.

Born in Panama City, Florida and raised in Europe, Colorado and Virginia, Peter got his first competition license in 1968, driving a Triumph TR250 at the now-gone Riverside Raceway in California. He attended his first SCCA driving school in a Formula 5000 Lola T-170, an evil-handling, tube-chassied formula car, and worked his way down the ladder from there.

His 10-year career as an active driver saw him compete in a variety of club-level vehicles from A-Production Mustangs to F-Production Austin-Healey Sprites. He joined the staff of Motor Trend Magazine in 1977, and found himself with a wealth of racing opportunities that included driving in the 1979 24 Hours of Daytona, and in the first-ever 24-hourshowroom stock race at Nelson Ledges. He never won a race, nor ran in any one car long enough to compete for a series championship.

After leaving Motor Trend in 1981, Peter found the motorsports success that eluded him as a driver when he went to work for Malibu Grand Prix and started doing P.R. for a Mazda RX-7 sponsored by the company and driven by Jack Baldwin. Baldwin won the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring twice in that car and went on to become the SCCA Trans-Am Champion.

After Malibu Grand Prix, Peter worked for motorsports legend Dan Gurney and was the team P.R. man when Chris Cord won the IMSA GTO Championship in the All-American Racers Toyota Celica.

In the years between working for Gurney and joining with Lynx Racing, he worked with a number of up-and-coming drivers, including Jimmy Vasser, Tom Kendall and David Donohue (son of another racing legend, Mark Donohue). Peter also worked as the public relations director for the Toyota Atlantic series in 1991 before deciding that he liked team P.R. better than series P.R.

Peter lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kimberley and to wire-haired fox terriers named Sparky and Simka. He still dreams of driving, but knows those days are over and finds great pleasure in racing around in rental cars and helping young drivers to achieve their dreams.

He is also the editor of the program for the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show and Editor of Velocity Magazine, the official publication of the International Honda - Acura Club
